This is the Final Product of my CD Cover assignment. The theme/made up band name of the assignment is "The Nightingale". A Nightingale is a kind of bird, it sings throughout the day but more so the night. Hence the name Night-ing-ale.
The design of the assignment was meant to be somewhat dark and mysterious, with a strong sense of freedom (splattered paint).
FRONT COVER
BACK COVER
Everything in the Final Product was created with the use of Photoshop. They were created using images of object found in my house such as, Picture Frame, Music Sheet, Wallpaper and Myself. Other visuals seen in the product were created with brushes and lighting filter effects found in Photoshop. The image of the bird was taken with a camera from a postcard of a bird that resembled a Nightingale, as it was hard to acquire a specific image of the specific bird.
I have many inspirations in my life, I don't go looking for them. They come looking for me. hahaha... soo corny :P

Photoshop CS5 3D function (trial)
Today in our Monday tutorial we were shown how to use the basics of Photoshop CS5's new 3-D function.
This is what we had produced in our trial.
We had to create a text, that will have the effect to be turned into a 3-dimensional eye popping image.
The function can be found at the top of the task bar, 3D > Repousse > Text Layer
Later, we learned how to create a shadow that would fall behind the text. This would be done rendering the texts. This can be found in the "3D window bar", then by ticking the "Ground Plane Shadow Catcher".
Then we go into the 3D (Scene) which has the function for the "Render Settings", then into quality where we change it to "Ray Traced Final".
For the Blurred out border seen in the image. First we make a, New layer > Edit > Stroke. Then we pick a colour for the border and select center. Then to blur, we go into Effect > Blur > Gaussian Blur.

Final Product (Photoshop)
This is my final product for our first assessment in our "Interactive Media" course. I have incorporated 3 object of elements into my production for this image.
The imagery of the bin is to represent junk/rubbish,
the imagery of toys are which, I now have no value for them besides sentimental values
and the portrait is to represent the memories that I will always have for my childhood toys.
Here are the images that I used in their original state -
A deeper insight into why I chose my toys to be represented as 'junk/rubbish' can be read in my first post on this blog.

Photoshop trial with toast
This is a trial image done on photoshop for my 'Interactive Media' course. This was just to help people in the tutorials to get used to the functions in photoshop. I used copyrighted images on the internet to digitally manipulate this outcome, these images are not mine.

Is 'this' really junk?
What is junk? Everything around us can be 'junk'. The difference is that junk is classified distinctively by each individual. Some may see junk in things that others cherish and treasure. Such as a wealthy man may see his 82 inch LCD t.v. as being outdated and classifying it as junk, whereas a poor man would cherish it if it were given to him. Hence the saying 'One man's thrash is another man's treasure'.
I believe that it is our experiences, lifestyle and the situation that we live in that really makes our judgment as to what we classify as junk. People are constantly changing, as we live our lives we slowly learn more about ourselves and the world that we live in. Our perception as to what we want and need for survival will shift in a different direction.
At this point in my life, one of the things that I classify as 'junk' are the toys that I loved and treasured as a child. These were the things that I would look forward to every morning when I got out of bed. They were the very thing that I was living for, as a child. Although, these toys having no current value to me now, they however do hold strong sentimental values to me. Each toy has a different memory stored inside of them. But it is to say that they would have no purpose for me at this point in my life.
